A bit about our gemstones...
- All of our gemstones are natural and untreated (unless stated otherwise), giving each piece its own unique character. Some beads may appear to have slight surface or internal characteristics, and colors and opacity vary from stone to stone.
- Aquamarine: A semi-precious gem from the Beryl family, aquamarines derive their name from the Latin word for 'seawater'. Aquamarines are the birthstone for March.
- Amethyst: A violet variety of quartz, with color ranging from lilac to a deep, royal purple. Amethysts are the birthstone for February.
- Auralite-23: This gemstone consists of 23 different minerals, and is extremely rare. It is said to possess a high frequency and an abundance of metaphysical properties.
- Garnet: Whereas most gemstones are mined underground, garnets are not. Garnets are commonly found as small pebbles in streams and watery places, where the igneous and metamorphic rocks that contain them have weathered away. They were prized by ancient warriors, as these gemstones were believed to protect the wearer from injury. Garnet is the birthstone for January.
- Peridot: Traditionally the birthstone for August, natural peridot ranges in color from a light lime green to a dark, almost emerald green. This natural stone sometimes has streaks of gold or pale brown.
- Pink Opal: Peruvian pink opals range in color from light cotton candy pink, to peach, to opaque white.
- Rose Quartz: Madagascar rose quartz is a lovely rosy pink that is said to be the stone of universal love.
- Sapphire: A precious gemstone that is the birthstone for September. The natural sapphires used for these earrings are mostly deep blue, with varying opacity.
- Sunstone: A member of the Feldspar family, sunstone is named for its warm shades of gold, red, orange and brown that sparkle like the sun. These stones can look iridescent in certain settings.
